Review

PURE SOCA is a thoughtful compilation of songs by established and emerging artistes as soca was changing in tempo. Sparrow, Shadow, Denyse Plummer, Rootsman, Pelham Goddard, Crazy and Baron are the familiar names. Ras Isley (Inez) was a forerunner for what was to become the Bajan Invasion from the Trini perspective.

Pan is acknowledged by the performance of maestro Len Boogsie Sharpe with vocalist Anslem Douglas, a versatile soca entertainer.  Scholars should take note of this anthology.
